Diagnosis
T. ni differs from its closely related species Autographa gamma (Linnaeus, 1758) by its wingspan and gamma mark; T. ni smaller than its related species and gamma mark divided in to two halves which is never seen in A. gamma.
Description
Wingspan of adults 31-35 mm Forewing dark greyish-brown, having blotches of different colours & small black spots on it. It is generally dark coloured. Forewing with small olive colour tinge. The gamma mark small silvery oval & U-shaped silvery white marks are on the middle of the forewings. The U mark brown coloured in the inner surface and joined to the dot like mark. Median line more sinuous with dull white & yellow coloured. Fringe of forewing with dark brown spots on it. Its marginal area dark greyish. The hindwing dark greyish-brown, with white coloured fringe in it. In male genitalia ampulla longer, sickle shaped. Uncus longer & thicker in shape. Vesica longer tubular like & a larger cornuti is present. In female genitalia corpus bursae smaller in size & ductus bursae longer & thinner.
