Diagnosis

A. nigrisigna differs from its closely related species A. gamma by its greyish brown forewing and double antemedial and postmedial crosslines. Gamma mark more silvery than A. gamma.

Description:

Wingspan 37-40 mm. Forewing greyish brown, with black spots present on the lateral side of the cell, basal of the forewing & immediate above the sigma mark & dorsal side of the cell. U- mark touches the antimedial line. Gamma mark more silvery & two halves are separated & sometimes joined in male. The larger part of gamma mark outlined by silver colour & the smaller part is filled with silver colour. The subterminal line less  sinuous. Hindwing light greyish brown & darker towards the margin. In male genitalia valvae broader with longer harpae. Vesica straighter & longer without spines. Only one cornuti is present on it.
