Diagnosis

M. tetragona differs from its closely related species M. purissima (Walker, 1857) by    darker median area than its sister species and gamma mark not divided in to two halves. Row of cornuti present in vesica of tertragona whereas cornuti completely absent in purissima.

Description

Wingspan 25-30mm. Forewing triangular with acute apex. Forewing grey-whitish with median area dark brown coloured. Gamma mark silvery white started with antimedial line and end with post medial line. Subterminal and terminal area suffused with whitish colour and olive darker patches present at the forewing apex. In male genitalia, valvae with longer projections. Ampulla well developed, clavus medium sized with shorter harpae. Vesica shorter and bend to form a U-shape and a group of cornuti present. In female genitalia corpus bursae bilobular. Ductus bursae heavily sclerotized.
